CHAPTER 4. BASIC COMPONENTS

CHAPTER 4. BASIC COMPONENTS

With an enlightenment on suspensions and all the associated parts, we can now move onto smaller but no less important components. Once we have built the frame as discussed here and in Volume 2 and added our suspension system, we will find the trailer can be loaded and its wheels will roll. However, to physically pull it with our tow vehicle we need to add a coupler, the first topic of discussion in this chapter. In addition, to be used legally on public roads, an electrical system with lights and wiring is required along with a license plate and a serial number. Fenders, as well as protection for your cargo and part of that finished look for your trailer, may also be part of the requirements to legalize it. These items, which form the next layer of important components, are discussed in this chapter.
